Kaam Paao is a referral-first job platform based in Gurugram, India. We take your privacy seriously, and this page explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, you can reach us any time at hello@kaampaao.com.

Who we are

Kaam Paao is an early-stage platform operated from Gurugram, India. When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means Kaam Paao. When it says “you”, it means anyone who uses the platform, whether you are looking for a job, referring someone, or just visiting the site.

For any question about your data, or to make a request about it, contact us at hello@kaampaao.com. We are the point of contact responsible for the information you share with us.

What information we collect

We only collect what we need to run the platform. Specifically:

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your name and email address so you can have an account and sign in.
• Profile information. If you build a profile, we collect what you choose to add: your skills, your work experience, your job title, links such as LinkedIn or a portfolio, a profile photo, and a résumé if you upload one. You decide how much of this to provide.
• Referral information. If you refer someone, or are referred, we store the details of that referral so both sides can follow its progress from introduction to outcome.
• Messages you send us. If you use the contact form, we store your name, email, and message so we can reply and help you.

We do not collect more than this, and we do not ask for sensitive information we do not need.

Résumé processing

If you upload a résumé, the text of it is sent to a third-party AI service so we can automatically pull out details like your job title, company, experience, and skills, saving you from typing them in by hand. You always see what was found before anything is saved, and you can correct it or fill in your profile manually instead.

We are currently on that provider’s free tier while Kaam Paao is early-stage. Their terms for the free tier allow them to use content sent through it, including your résumé text, to improve their own AI models. We are telling you this plainly because we think you should know it, not because we are required to. If you would rather not have your résumé processed this way, skip the upload and fill in your profile manually, no résumé text is sent anywhere in that case. We intend to move to a paid tier, which comes with stronger data-use terms, as the business grows.

How we use your information

We use your information only to run and improve Kaam Paao:

• To create and manage your account
• To match profiles to relevant openings, using your skills and experience
• To let referrers and candidates see the status of a referral they are part of
• To reply to messages you send us
• To keep the platform secure and working properly

We do not use your information for anything you would not expect from a job referral platform.

What we do not do

We think it is as important to tell you what we do not do:

• We do not sell your personal data to anyone. Not to advertisers, not to recruiters, not to any third party. This is a firm commitment, not a temporary position.
• We do not share your résumé or profile publicly without the platform’s normal function requiring it. Your résumé is stored privately.
• We do not send your data to third parties for their own marketing.
• We do not run advertising networks that track you across the internet.

Who can see your information

Different information is visible to different people, and we keep this simple:

• Your résumé is stored privately. It is never public and never browsable. Two people can open it: someone who has actually referred you, so they can put you forward, and a company whose job you applied to. This works in one direction only. You cannot open the résumé of someone who referred you.
• Your profile details, such as your skills and experience, are visible to referrers on the platform so they can consider you for openings, which is the core purpose of the service.
• Your profile photo is visible as part of your profile.
• A referral’s status is visible to the people involved in that referral, so both sides can follow its progress.
• If a referral connects you with someone, whether you referred them or they referred you, you and that person can see each other’s email address and LinkedIn URL so you can follow up directly. Your phone number is never shared with them, in either direction. This is limited strictly to people connected by an actual referral. We never make contact details public or browsable, and we do not share them with anyone else.
• Messages you send us through the contact form are private and seen only by our team.

How we store and protect your information

Your data is stored using Supabase, an established infrastructure provider, on secured servers. Access to the underlying data is restricted, résumés are held in private storage, and the platform uses access rules so that people can only see what they are meant to see. We take reasonable, industry-standard measures to protect your information. No online service can promise perfect security, but we treat your data with genuine care and design the system to limit who can access what.

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use Kaam Paao, in aggregate. This tells us things like which pages are visited and where visitors came from. We do not use it to identify you personally, and we do not sell or share this data with advertisers.

Your choices and rights

You are in control of your information:

• You can view and edit your profile information at any time from your account.
• You can update or remove details you have added, including your résumé.
• You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data associated with it. Email hello@kaampaao.com and we will action it.
• You can ask us what information we hold about you.

In line with India’s data protection principles, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these, contact hello@kaampaao.com.

Data retention

We keep your information for as long as you have an account with us. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data, except anything we are genuinely required to keep for legal reasons, which for an early-stage platform like ours is minimal.

Children

Kaam Paao is intended for people who are of working age and legally able to work. It is not intended for children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

As the platform grows, we may update this policy. If we make a meaningful change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, let users know. Continuing to use Kaam Paao after an update means the current version applies.
