I've spent the last 5 years testing software for banks mostly in the corporate banking and financial services space, working with clients like ANZ and ICICI. What I actually do, day to day: I dig into requirements with BAs and product owners, test everything from functional flows to full end-to-end scenarios, and validate APIs using Postman (checking payloads, headers, auth, the works). I also spend a fair bit of time in JIRA managing defects end to end, writing SQL queries to check backend data, and putting together test summary reports that actually make sense to stakeholders who aren't testers. One thing I'm proud of: on my last project, we closed out SIT with zero critical defects post-release, and I helped cut our defect turnaround time by 20% just by cleaning up how we were using JIRA. Right now I'm brushing up on Automation and looking into how AI tools are changing testing trying to stay useful as things evolve, not just stick to what I already know.
